Meet the creator!
Hello, my name is Stephanie!
I am currently a student at Federal Way High School. I am very passionate about geography, and have taught the subject at Green Gables Elementary since 2013, when I began a Geography Club there. For this club, I have created many PowerPoint presentations about dozens of countries, which are now the main feature on this website!
There are multiple reasons why I decided to create this website. First of all, I have been a Girl Scout for 10+ years and I am currently working on achieving my Girl Scout Gold Award (the highest award in Girl Scouting). In order to receive this award, one must implement a project in their community that educates and inspires, and also is sustainable and measurable. Since I love educating others about the world, I figured 'why not use all my resources from my Geography Club and make them available to an even wider community?'. Secondly, I have always wanted to be able to expand my reach beyond the fifteen students in my Geography Club. Rather than trying to teach 50 or 100 kids at a time, this website allows me to provide knowledge and learning to kids on their own time. With this reason in mind, I decided to create this website as my Gold Award Project.
You may be wondering why I am so interested in and passionate about the subject. Since I was younger, my family has always been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel. Both of my parents love to travel--my father is an airline pilot, and he travels for a living and this always intrigued me from a young age. We started out traveling to California and the East Coast of the United States. When I was twelve years old, we went on our first trip to Europe, and it opened my eyes to a new side of the world I had never seen before--new food, new cultures, new languages--and I fell in love with it! Since then I have been back to Europe three times, and visited more than twenty countries on the continent. I also have traveled to Ecuador, in South America. I have learned a lot through my travels, and hope to share this as well through my teachings and this website.
My main goal with this website is to inspire and educate young students to learn more about the world they live in.
I hope you enjoy!
